The nephew gets prompted (“You’ve been awful quiet” ) and instead of deflecting, he launches into a speech about affordability crisis for everyday New Yorkers, “Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, the other one.” It’s word-for-word Zohran Mamdani speechifying. Three thousand miles from the fight he’s pretending to care about. The family knows instantly: “Here we go carrying that thing again.” The punchline lands: “We live in f**ing San Diego.” He can’t name the boroughs. But he memorized the script. A man talking about stuff he absolutely has nothing to do with.
