The Muslim Heroes Who Slayed Dracula

Did you know Dracula had a Muslim arch-nemesis?

History conveniently forgot to mention that Radu the Handsome, brother to Vlad the Impaler, was a devout Muslim. He didn’t just sip tea with the Ottomans—he helped them conquer Constantinople.

But Hollywood had other plans for Muslims on screen.

Fact: 936 out of 1,000 pre-9/11 films portrayed Arabs and Muslims as villains.

Fast forward to today, and they’ve traded turbaned terrorists for “progressive” Muslims who can’t wait to ditch their deen. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire.

We think both options stink.

That’s why we at Tales of Khayr created The Brotherhood of the Wolf.

We’re not selling magic carpets or oppression narratives. We’re offering:

  • Muslim heroes who pray and slay

  • Ottoman-inspired dark fantasy

  • Historically accurate kick-assery

Imagine “The Witcher” meets “Ertugrul,” minus the Hollywood hogwash.

You won’t find elves or dwarves here. Instead, prepare for:

  • Jinns that make genies look tame

  • Alchemy that puts Hogwarts to shame

  • Heroes who don’t apologize for their faith or their ferocity

Don’t let Hollywood write our story. It’s time we told it ourselves.

Here’s Shibli Zaman’s article–on the true roots of Dracula– that moved me to creating The Brotherhood of the Wolf. I’m not affiliated with Shibli in any way, but still encourage you to give it a read. I devoured it when I was still a snot-nosed university student but Shibli’s post had a big impact on me.

Salam and happy reading,

Wes

P.S. Dracula’s real story makes Bram Stoker look like Dr. Seuss. Hollywood, take notes.
