Plot > Vibes (yeah, I said it)

Picture this: You’re sitting in a darkened theater. On screen, a character stares pensively out a window for five minutes. Nothing happens. The scene is beautifully shot. Critics call it “contemplative.”

You’re fighting the urge to check your phone.

I get it. I’m the same way.

While others bask in the “vibes” of arthouse cinema, I’m silently screaming, “Get to the point!”

Here’s a confession: Even with Joe Abercrombie’s masterful character work in his fantasy novels, I find myself stuck at 4/5 stars. Why? Because I’m a plot machine. My brain craves forward momentum like a shark needs to keep swimming.

When I write, every scene must earn its place. Think of it like a ruthless editor with a machete, hacking away anything that doesn’t drive the story forward.

Let me show you what I mean:

  • In “The Lesser Evil,” when Koja watches the military procession, he’s not just observing—he’s about to have his entire world shattered

  • When his mother receives a letter, she doesn’t spend pages contemplating it—she acts, setting off a chain of devastating events

  • Each panel ratchets up the tension, like turning a screw until something has to break

You won’t find:

  • Characters staring at sunsets pondering their existence

  • Meandering subplots that go nowhere

  • “Atmospheric” scenes where nothing happens

Instead, you get:

  • Ruthless pacing that grabs you by the throat

  • Every setup paid off with brutal efficiency

  • A story that moves like an arrow toward its target

When I need to relax, I go for walks or read. But when I sit down to tell a story, I’m here to engage you, to pull you into a plot that doesn’t let go until the final page.

That’s my promise with The Brotherhood of the Wolf series. No filler. No fluff. Just pure, distilled storytelling that respects your time and your intelligence.

Want proof? I’ve just released a 30-second video that demonstrates exactly what I mean. It’s the story of Koja’s fall from grace, told with the ruthless efficiency I believe in.

Every second counts. Every panel matters. And like everything in The Brotherhood of the Wolf, it moves with deadly purpose.

Stay vigilant, Wes
