Picture this: You’re curled up with your favorite book, lost in an epic battle scene. Your heart’s racing as the hero dodges a lethal blow, their sword arcing through the air in a desperate counter-attack…
Now imagine that same scene written by AI: “The sword went up. The sword went down. The hero fought the villain. It was intense.” yawn
This actually happened recently when I tested some AI writing software. The result? About as thrilling as watching paint dry in slow motion. Actually, no—that’s not fair. At least with paint, there’s the suspense of maybe seeing a fly land on it.
But here’s what really got me thinking…
Monster Hunter International author Larry Correia just called AI-written fiction “vapid, soulless shi**” – and he’s not alone. The entire science fiction and fantasy community is in an uproar over AI-generated stories flooding submission queues.
Why? Because AI can’t replicate the one thing that makes a story worth reading: A human soul.
AI doesn’t know what it’s like to spend over an hour in traffic, only to find out the sole churro place in your city closed early. That’s human suffering. AI doesn’t know the heartbreak of driving headlong into a parked ambulance because you didn’t know how to drive the motorcycle your friend lent you. And you know what’s worse? The paramedics still told your parents. That’s raw, emotional depth.
This hits close to home for me. When creating The Lesser Evil, I knew every panel had to pulse with genuine human emotion – the kind that can only come from real artists pouring their hearts into their work.

No AI. No shortcuts. Just pure storytelling passion.

P.S. You know that feeling when you hold a real, freshly-printed book? The weight, the texture, the smell? Each copy of The Lesser Evil is crafted with that same attention to physical perfection.
