The whole idea that Israel has a “right to exist” is something I keep hearing, and honestly, it makes no sense to me. Yugoslavia is not a state anymore, for example. Francesca Albanese ( international law expert) asked the obvious question: what country has a “right to exist”? Show me where that lives in international law. Point to it.
Do the Kurds have a right to their own nation? There are many ethnic groups in this world who do not have their own nation-state. The nation-state is the exception, not the rule. So this phrase “right to exist” is bogus from the start.
And notice how it is always used. Whenever the press has a Zionist pinned to the wall over genocide/ethnic cleansing, suddenly they bring up this “right to exist” line. It is a go-to move. It derails the argument and sends it down a rabbit hole it never comes back from.
Tucker Carlson just went into this with Zionist golem Mike Huckabee. Carlson asks him, “Does Ireland have a right to exist?” Huckabee says, “If they can defend themselves”. What kind of answer is that?
Did the Vikings think the Anglo-Saxons had a right to exist when they invaded England? Did the Ottomans think the Eastern Roman Empire had a right to exist when they conquered Constantinople in 1453? Did the British and the French think that the Ottoman Empire had a right to exist when they effectively destroyed it at the end of WWI? It’s silly.
This is one of those phrases they cook up, then repeat and repeat and repeat until it sounds real. But when you actually stop and look at it, it is a rather stupid concept.
But that same principle applies to us and the alternative we are building for fans who want something more sophisticated, yet still deliciously old school sword and sorcery. For anyone who wants a world with characters rooted in an Islamicate milieu that actually respects verisimilitude and does not pander, I am here for you. We don’t have a “right” to high-quality works of sword & sorcery. We take the means and effort to make it happen (while consigning the outcome to God, of course).
